Dr. Alphy S. Puthiyidom is a highly skilled gynaecologist with over 15 years of experience specialising in advanced and complex laparoscopic surgery, pelvic reconstructive and urogynecology surgery. She currently serves as the Head of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Mediclinic Welcare Hospital and is frequently sought out as a tertiary referral for difficult surgical cases.

Dr. Alphy has a passion for treating women with endometriosis and pelvic pain and is pursuing further education in Neuropelveology, a relatively new discipline concerned with the dysfunction of pelvic nerves.
Prior to joining Mediclinic, Dr. Alphy worked for three years as an advanced gynaecological laparoscopic surgeon at another private hospital in Dubai and for seven years at the Sunrise Institute of Medical Science in Kochi, India, which is an apex center for minimally invasive surgery.
Over her career, Dr. Alphy has performed more than 10,000 advanced minimally invasive (keyhole) laparoscopic and hysteroscopic procedures, with expertise in handling difficult procedures like laparoscopy in severe and recurrent endometriosis, removal of large and multiple fibroids, and laparoscopic and vaginal reconstructive procedures for pelvic organ prolapses and urinary incontinence. She has a special interest in performing complicated surgeries with minimal scarring for maximum post-operative comfort and cosmetic appearance.
She is an accomplished teacher of minimally invasive techniques and has provided training in laparoscopic gynaecology and hysteroscopic procedures to over 350 gynecologists from India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia. She has also been invited to speak at many international and national conferences and has demonstrated various procedures as surgical faculty in many live endoscopic and laparoscopic surgical workshops.
As a passionate health educator for the public, Dr. Alphy has given numerous public lectures and presentations, particularly in the field of women’s health. She is also a member of several professional organisations, including the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy, the European Urogynaecology Association, and the International Urogynecological Association.
