Dr. Martin Lee is a UK trained consultant rheumatologist. After completing his undergraduate medical qualifications in Cardiff, UK in 2003, he qualified as a consultant in 2011 and worked at the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases in Bath. He then took a sabbatical to complete a 2,600 mile solo, unsupported kayak circumnavigation of the UK, kayaking 100 marathons in 100 days in the process, to raise money for the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society. In 2012 Dr Lee began work as Consultant Rheumatologist, Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer and Associate Clinical Sub Dean at Newcastle-upon-Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Newcastle University. Dr. Lee has developed a number of specialist interests in the field of Rheumatology including early inflammatory arthritis, young adult and transitional care and the management of pregnancy in rheumatic diseases. Dr. Lee is trained in musculoskeletal ultrasound. Dr Lee has won a number of awards in the field of Rheumatology including two NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) Shared Learning awards and an NRAS Healthcare Champion Award presented to him by the Prime Minister in 2016.
Dr. Lee is an Associate Professor at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences and a fellow of the UK Royal College of Physicians and has also passed his postgraduate European Certification in Rheumatology. He has published numerous manuscripts and abstracts in high impact Rheumatology journals. He moved to Dubai in 2019 with his wife and two young children.
