Following his graduation from Cairo University Medical School, Dr Elhanafy decided to complete his postgraduate medical training in the United Kingdom.
As a prerequisite to practise medicine in the United Kingdom, Dr. Elhanafy passed his PLAB exams in 2003 before deciding to embark on a career of General Practice in the UK. He attended the vocational postgraduate training scheme for Wessex Deanery in the south of the UK and worked across different specialities in Bournemouth and Poole before successfully passing the final assessment exams and acquiring the certificate of completion of specialist training (CCT) in 2008. He then successfully finished the exams of the Royal College of General Practitioners to acquire the Membership of the college in 2009. He has been working as a full time family medicine physician since 2008 in the United Kingdom managing patients with chronic diseases and different acute and chronic illnesses affecting adults and children before moving to the UAE in 2019.
