Professor William Atiomo, is an internationally recognized, UK trained, consultant gynaecologist who has dedicated his career to improving women's health through research, innovation, education and clinical service. With more than 30 years of experience in his field, Professor William Atiomo’s expertise extends to most aspects of gynaecology. He is currently a full Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU), Dubai, UAE. Prior to this Professor William Atiomo worked at the University of Nottingham Medical School and Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham University Hospitals, NHS Trust in the UK. His specialist (residency) training in obstetrics and gynaecology took place in university hospitals in the southwest region of England (Exeter, Bristol and Plymouth) and the Royal Free and University College London Medical School, where he worked as a clinical lecturer in obstetrics and gynaecology. Professor William Atiomo is a Fellow of the UK Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and a Senior Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy.
Professor William Atiomo has made it his mission to not only provide compassionate care to his patients but also conduct research and create educational programs that advance the field of gynaecology and improve the lives of women. As a researcher, Professor William Atiomo’s work has led to numerous publications on gynaecology conditions. He has filed patents for new surgical devices in laparoscopic surgery. He has also been invited to review major research/program grants to investigate women’s health problems, by many international funders and undertaken editorial review work on several gynaecology manuscripts submitted to international journals for publication. He was a member of the college of experts affiliated to the health services and public health research board of the UK Medical Research Council and is an active member of the Androgen Excess and PCOS Society (AEPCOS) and British Medical Association.
Professor William Atiomo is committed to sharing his expertise with the next generation of gynaecologists. He has trained and mentored countless medical students, residents and consultant colleagues. He has also taught other healthcare providers, including nurses and midwives and promoted initiatives on inter-professional education. Professor William Atiomo commitment to medical education is reflected in his publications and awards. He is a member of the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME) and the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE).

In addition to his research and teaching, Professor William Atiomo is an advocate for women's health. He has led international initiatives to improve healthcare for underserved communities and is currently leading an international project aiming to standardize the curriculum in obstetrics and gynaecolgy for medical students globally, in an effort to reduce global disparities in women’s health outcomes.
