Dr. Sweeting qualified from King’s College London in 2000 and specialised in Palliative Medicine in the UK. She has held consultant posts providing input to patients in acute hospital, community and hospice settings in the UK.
She is an accredited educator and mentor, with active engagement in undergraduate and postgraduate medical and nursing education, including developing palliative care teaching programs in the UK and UAE.
She set up the palliative care service in the comprehensive cancer centre at Mediclinic City hospital in 2019. She is a strong advocate for patient and family involvement in medical decision making, particularly at end of life. Empathetic, ethical and culturally competent, she believes in a multi-professional team approach to patient care.
She is a founder member of the UAE palliative care working group, as part of Emirates Oncology Society, which is pioneering growth of palliative care provision and education in the region.
