Dr Marie du Boulay is a fully accredited UK Board Certified Consultant Anaesthesiologist. She graduated in medicine from King’s College, University of London. She then undertook her specialist training in Anaesthesiology in the Wessex School of Anaesthesia, based around Southampton University Hospital. She completed her specialist training with a Fellowship year in Paediatric Anaesthesia at Great Ormond Street Hospital. She was awarded CCT in 2001. She has over 20 years’ experience working as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist both in the NHS and privately. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and a Member of the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists.
She maintains a specialist interest in paediatric anaesthesia, alongside adult major general surgery, with extensive experience in oesophagectomy and bariatric surgery. In addition she enjoys a broad scope of practice across the entire anaesthetic service.
In addition to her patient facing clinical commitments she had a number of national and local clinical leadership roles in the UK. Prior to joining Mediclinic Parkview she had a senior leadership role in the Royal College of Anaesthetist’s accreditation programme (ACSA), with responsibility for raising standards across anaesthetic services throughout the UK. She has also for the last 6 years been the Clinical Quality Advisor to the Royal College of Anaesthetists. She has made an outstanding contribution to improving standards of care, safety and quality and, as such, in 2024 the Royal College of Anaesthetists awarded her The Dudley Buxton Medal for outstanding achievement for the speciality of anaesthesia.
She completed a Masters in Medical Education and Professional Practice in 2014, graduating with Distinction. She has had a number of leadership roles in education, most recently as a member of the Anaesthesia Curriculum Review Group leading a complete re-write of the Anaesthesthetic curriculum across all stages of training, launched in August 2021.
