Dr Curran is a UK trained CCT certified Consultant Physician, specializing in Geriatrics, Internal Medicine and Stroke Medicine. His clinical practice includes all aspects of Geriatrics, encompassing Community care, Orthogeriatrics, Falls management, the Rehabilitation of older people and Stroke care. Areas of specialist expertise include Stroke care and Community Geriatric care. Dr Curran completed all his undergraduate and postgraduate training in the UK where he practiced for 15 years. He graduated from the University of Leicester in 2002 and completed his House Officer and Medical SHO rotation in Leicester where he obtained his MRCP (UK) in 2006. In 2009 he completed a Diploma of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Dr Curran worked for an NGO allied to the national TB treatment program in Pakistan between 2009 and 2011, predominantly in Sindh province.
Dr Curran achieved his higher specialist qualifications in Geriatrics and Stroke Medicine through the Wales Deanery certified 5 year specialist training program. He completed a specialist Stroke Fellowship at Leicester Royal Infirmary 2015-2016 which included training in Hyper-acute Stroke care, Neuro-radiology and Rehabilitation. Prior to joining Mediclinic City Hospital, Dr Curran practiced at Wrexham Maelor Hospital for 2 years and then the Countess of Chester Hospital for 3 years as a substantive Consultant Physician in Geriatrics, Stroke Medicine and Internal Medicine. He was the clinical lead for Stroke services at the Countess of Chester Hospital for 2 years. He was involved in clinical governance, research and patient service improvement. Dr Curran completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Stroke Medicine through the University of Keele (UK) in 2018. Dr Curran's personal mantra in regard to patient and family interactions is: -Care -Compassion -Excellence He believes in providing high quality, evidence based and holistic clinical care to his patients. He involves patients in all aspects of their care and develops treatment and investigation plans in partnership with individuals guided by their clinical need, personal preference and in line with international guidelines.
