Summary
Dr. Filza Khalid graduated in 2011 from Shifa College of Medicine, Islamabad, Pakistan, as one of the top ten medical students. After one year of internship in 2013, Filza was accepted in the training programme at Dubai Health Authority. The majority of her training was at Rashid Hospital, which is a Level 1 Trauma Centre, the largest in the Middle East, along with rotations in Dubai and Latifa Hospitals. Early in her training in 2015 she became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons - England. During her training she served as Chief Resident and was responsible for the academic programme, clinical work and rota scheduling of the entire batch of residents in General Surgery for one year. Dr Filza also helped establish and run a Point of Care Ultrasound Workshop, the first of its kind, all across the UAE. At the end of her training in 2019 Dr Filza acquired the board certificate in General Surgery from the Arab Board of Health Specializations. Since then she has been working at Mediclinic Parkview Hospital as a specialist general surgeon. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in teaching of medical students. Recently Dr Filza became a faculty member of Advance Trauma Life Support course.
