Prof Heyman Luckraz is an experienced UK-trained Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon with over 30 years of practice in the field. His cardiac surgical practice includes coronary artery bypass grafting, aortic, mitral and tricuspid valves surgery, myxoma surgery, surgery on the aorta and atrial fibrillation surgery with a special interest in minimal access surgery. Additionally, he also performs TAVI/TMVR, ECMO & deal with cardiothoracic trauma and trained in Heart & Lung transplant and VAD therapy. He also performs surgical procedures within the thorax (lung, mediastinum, chest wall) with most of these procedures being carried via Keyhole surgery - Video Assisted Thoracoscopy (VATS).
Prof Luckraz graduated with Honours from the University of London and is a member of the European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery (EACTS), the Society for Cardiothoracic Surgery (SCTS, Great Britain & Ireland) and is also a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Throughout his career, he has worked in some of the United Kingdom’s most esteemed medical institutions such as the Heart and Lung Centre (Wolverhampton), the University Hospital of Wales (Cardiff), Papworth Hospital (Cambridge), John Radcliffe Hospital (Oxford) Royal Brompton Hospital (London), St George’s Hospital (London) and the Royal London Hospital.
He is a strong believer of evidence-based practice with implementation of innovative technologies. He was part of the authorship for the 2014 ESC/EACTS (European) Guidelines on myocardial revascularization and was the main author for the Heart Team Guidelines for BCIS/SCTS (UK). He, successfully, ran several clinical trials in the UK and has over 100 peer-reviewed publications.
Prof Luckraz constantly earns the highest acclaim from his patients as well as his peers, using his skills and vast knowledge to treat patients. In addition, He has accumulated awards and accolades for his work over the years.
