Dr Kavita Goswami has over 30 years of experience in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
She undertook her specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (CCST) in various leading institutions in the West Midlands, UK, followed by clinical fellowships in Sydney, Australia and at Cooper Hospital and Temple University, New Jersey, USA. She has also undertaken advanced laparoscopic training at IRCAD, Strasbourg. She is a fellow of Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, London, UK and also completed her Masters in Medical Sciences from Wolverhampton, UK.
She worked for 19 years as a successful consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in the University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, UK, till 2019, with a busy practice in the NHS and private sector. She then relocated to Dubai, UAE in Dec 2019 and has continued to have a successful career at Mediclinic City Hospital.
Dr Goswami has a warm bed side manner and advocates women's preventative healthcare.
She has extensive broad based experience and skills, managing all aspects of pregnancy, normal and high risk pregnancy including medical disorders in pregnancy, multiple pregnancy, and breech. She is skilled and experienced in high risk obstetrics and provides women-centred care. She believes in supporting women and in making their births' safe, irrespective of their choices. She offers a personalised service to her pregnant ladies and delivers them herself.
She is proficient in medical and surgical management of gynaecological conditions. Her expertise involves managing menstrual disturbances, menopausal problems, pelvic pain, fibroids, endometriosis, ovarian cysts, vaginal prolapse, urinary incontinence, vaginal discharge, contraception, paediatric and adolescent gynaecology, cervical smears testing and management, colposcopy and surgical management of miscarriages and ectopic pregnancy. In addition to this, she specialises in pelvic floor disorders. She also offers day case gynaecology procedures (hysteroscopy, endometrial ablations, Myosure endometrial lesion resections, submucous fibroid resection, labial reduction and opening of female circumcision,). She is proficient in a wide range of vaginal, hysteroscopic, abdominal, and laparoscopic surgeries (including perineal repairs, pelvic floor repairs, vaginal refashioning, ovarian cystectomies, vaginal and laparoscopic hysterectomy, fibroid surgery) and has extensive experience.
She holds an RCOG/RCR accredited Diploma in Gynaecology and Obstetrics Ultrasound Scanning. She has been a regional trainer (RCOG) for transvaginal scanning, hysteroscopic, benign and laparoscopic surgery.
She has a keen educational interest and has been training medical students, specialist registrars, GPs and multidisciplinary staff throughout her career. She has been a trainer for ALSO, MOET emergency Obstetrics skills training certifications. She is also an RCOG examiner for MRCOG part 3 (UK) which is the final licensing examinations for specialists. She was college tutor for 3 years at UHCW NHS trust for postgraduate training. Dr Kavita has research interests in uterovaginal prolapse repair, urinary incontinence, female circumcision (FGM) and hysteroscopic resection of fibroids. She is currently in charge of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology teaching for medical students at Mediclinic City Hospital for MBRU (Mohammed Bin Rashid University).
