Summary: Dr Sonja’s plastic surgery career spans 3 decades. As her career progressed, she focused her subspecialist interests on aesthetic, skin cancer, and hand surgery. She practised in the UK National Health Service and privately in Central and South-West London until April 2024.

She offers her patients competent treatments in a broad spectrum of face and body rejuvenating cosmetic procedures (with the exception of rhinoplasties), scar revisions and neat treatments for all sorts of skin lumps and bumps, including complex skin cancer reconstruction. She is a renowned expert in all aspects of hand and wrist surgery, acute injuries and chronic conditions.

Sonja is a keen athlete and enjoys outdoor pursuits. She is married and has two grown-up children.

Dr Sonja graduated from the Medical School at Belgrade University in Serbia, where she commenced her surgical training. Having moved to the United Kingdom in 1995, she completed the formal Plastic Surgery rotation in South London, an aesthetic surgery fellowship at the McIndoe Surgical Centre in East Grinstead, orthopaedic wrist fellowship at Wrightington Hospital in Wigan and hand fellowship at Windsor Hand Clinic by 2008. Sonja was awarded a title of Master in Surgical Science for her postgraduate research thesis in the field of flexor tendon surgery from the University of London in 1999.

She has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England since 1998 and on the UK General Medical Council Plastic Surgery Specialist (post CCT) Register since 2008.

Dr Sonja’s consultant practice started at St George’s Hospital in London, one of the largest Level I trauma centres and University teaching hospitals in Europe in 2008. She has been the Head of Plastic Surgery Department there between 2019 – 2022 and was always actively involved in research, education and training of medical students and junior doctors.
